Meet Dr. Lynn
Lynn Gomes, D.V.M., B.S. Animal Science, CEVMMP, is originally from Nova Scotia, Canada. She earned a B.S. in Animal Science at Dalhousie University in Truro Nova Scotia. Dr. Gomes graduated from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. After graduating she completed a one year surgical and ambulatory internship at Ocala Equine Hospital and has been working in the Raleigh area ever since. She has been certified as an Equine Veterinary Medical Manipulation Practitioner from the Integrative Veterinary Medical Institute.
Dr. Gomes professional interests are preventative medicine, lameness and poor performance issues, vertebral manipulation (AKA “equine chiropractic”) and diagnostic imaging. In her free time she enjoys riding and competing with her horse Half Emilion and new mount Colero Z as well as spending time with her husband, two dogs, and gardening.
Courtney Bohart, DVM
Courtney Bohart, DVM grew up in San Diego, California, where she developed a love for horses at an early age. She competed in the hunter/jumper circuit across California during childhood and through college. She earned her B.S. degree from The University of California, Davis in animal science. After college, Courtney worked as an equine veterinary technician for 2 years before deciding to apply to veterinary school in 2013. She completed her first three years of veterinary school at St. George’s University in Grenada, and finished her clinical year at North Carolina State University. After graduating in 2017, Courtney spent one year in Lexington, Kentucky as a rotating hospital intern at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital. She is very excited to return to the state of North Carolina to continue her passion of equine veterinary medicine. In her spare time, Courtney enjoys being outdoors, fitness, hiking, and spending time with her boyfriend and her dog, Gunner.
Phoebe Hazzan, RVT
Growing up riding hunters and jumpers in NY, Phoebe developed an unwavering passion for horses. An interest in science and veterinary medicine lead her to North Carolina State University where she graduated in 2009 with a B.S. in Animal Science and competed on the NCSU Equestrian Team. She went on to complete an AAS in Veterinary Medical Technology from central Carolina Community College in 2012. She gained invaluable experience working as an RVT in both the Large Animal Hospital as well as a research laboratory at the NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine before joining Dr. Gomes in 2016. Phoebe is most grateful for having the opportunity to learn from multiple veterinarians and many horses, ranging from the pasture pet all the way up to the Olympic athlete. Aside from all things equine, Phoebe enjoys hiking and running with her boyfriend and dog, watching a good movie or football game, cooking up a new Pinterest recipe, and spending time with friends and family.
Lenna Borkowski - Assistant
Lenna Borkowski moved to Apex in the fall of 2012 with her husband, Jeff. She grew up on Eastern Long Island where she spent countless hours in the saddle riding with top hunter jumper trainers. Her love of horses continued through college when she chose to stay home and ride. She graduated from Farmingdale State College with a Bachelor’s in Business Management. She currently has 4 dogs, 2 cats, 2 horses & 1 ferret. When Lenna isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her horses and reading.
Ali Schubert - Extern
Ali Schubert is a pre-veterinary class of 2019 student in the honors program at NCSU majoring in biochemistry and minoring in business administration with an entrepreneurship focus. In addition to being an avid rider since 2003, she works with and rehabs horses at Southern Oak Equestrian Center. She began working with Dr. Gomes in January 2015, gaining experience hours for vet school. Her goal is to graduate from vet school in 2023 and become an equine veterinarian.
